What Is Counselling?
Counselling is a safe and confidential space for you to speak with a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Working collaboratively, you and your counsellor will explore how each of these influence your understanding of self and others.
During a session, you and your counsellor may have a more general discussions about how you’re feeling or what currently going on in your life. Your counsellor may also ask you specific questions regarding your relationships, childhood, dreams, and/or significant life events. It either case, these conversation help to build a relationship between you and your counsellor as you work together.
For some, sharing so freely with another person can feel scary and overwhelming. This is understandable especially when you have no prior knowledge or experience of the person . As such, you and your counsellor will take time to get to know one another so that you are able to work safely and sustainably.
